We are RoomNow Basel — a self-organized collective in Basel that connects people looking for a place to live with those who have rooms or apartments to share. We exist because housing is a human right. In Basel, as in many cities across Europe, people are being forced onto the streets, deprived of safety, and excluded from access to secure living spaces. The housing crisis is no coincidence — it is the direct result of profit-driven systems and political decisions that treat housing as a commodity instead of a basic human need.
RoomNow Basel is not only about rooms or housing situations — it’s about reclaiming the right to live.
Our priority is clear: we center those who are pushed to the margins.
We stand in solidarity with people without papers, without money, without stability — those made most vulnerable by systems of borders, racism, trans- and queerphobia, and capitalist exploitation.
RoomNow Basel stands for and with undocumented people, displaced people, precarious people, queer and trans people, migrants, and refugees.
Priority is given to TINFA individuals (trans*, intersex, non-binary, femme, agender).
We don’t just mediate spaces — we stand alongside people when contracts need to be signed, when furniture is needed, or when bureaucracy becomes a mechanism of exclusion. We organize to build infrastructures of care, resistance, and survival — in the face of a system that abandons us.
